British chemist and physicist who discovered the elements palladium (1803) and rhodium (1804). In 1805 he devised a process for producing malleable platinum that could be used to make various utensils and apparatus. Wollaston was also one of the first scientists to realize that the arrangement of atoms in a molecule must be three-dimensional.
