Pushing it into the sea with two mighty strokes of his paddle he crossed the sea to the mouth of the Wailuku river.
It is also known as "The natural bridge of the Wailuku river."
There are many vague stories as to why the Wailuku River was so named.
From Lahaina the route is by automobile to Wailuku and Olinda, thence on horseback to the summit.
In the Hawaiian tongue Wailuku means literally "destroying water."
