A muscle with origin in the medial pterygoid plate, pterygomandibular raphe, mylohyoid line of the mandible, and the floor of the mouth and the side of the tongue, with insertion to the posterior wall of the pharynx, with nerve supply from the pharyngeal plexus, and whose action narrows the pharynx.
