Vishṇu and Rudra are known even to the Ṛig Veda but as deities of no special eminence.
And the trident Vijaya was followed by the Pattisa41 of Rudra guarded by maces, balls, clubs and other excellent weapons.
The Rudras are eleven; according to some the eleven personifications of Siva, who bears the name of Rudra.
Siva is the Rudra of the Veda, the boisterous god of storms, the giver of rain and growth.
The same group, under the name of Rudras, is occasionally associated with their father Rudra.
