Roubiliac

This fine piece of sculpture first introduced the abilities of Roubiliac to the notice of the public.

Roubiliac constantly had recourse to the living forms about him; Flaxman preferred instead to turn to the antique.

At the south end of this noble room, above the master's chair, is a bust of the founder by Roubiliac.

Mr. Cunningham dates the appearance of this statue, which was Roubiliac's earliest work, at 1732.
