Merefleet looked over old Quiller's shoulder into the little kitchen.
Merefleet came upon her once standing in the sunshine with Mrs. Quiller's baby in her arms.
As darkness fell, the gale at length abated, and Quiller the younger approached Seton.
"I'm going to see Mrs. Quiller and the baby now," she said, with her sprightly little nod.
Let it be a lesson to you, Quiller, my laddiebuck; when you hear that whistle, light out for the tall timber.
