A sex-linked disorder resembling hypoparathyroidism, but which is unresponsive to treatment with parathyroid hormone; it is characterized by short stature, round face, achondroplasia, calcification of basal ganglia, true ectopic bone in fascial planes and skin, mental deficiency, hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, and parathyroid tissue that is hyperplastic.
