wine made from distilled palm-tree sap.

Origin of palm wine

First recorded in 1605–15

Palm-wine was also made in Egypt, and used in the process of embalming.

The Portuguese use the palm-wine as yeast, and it makes bread so light, that it melts in the mouth like froth.
