In the Oresteia Æschylus has plucked the last fruit upon the Upas-tree of crime which flourished in the palace of Mycenæ.
His fate and that of his house is the subject of Æschylus' trilogy "Oresteia."
The Oresteia is sufficient to prove that we gain no insight into his method as an artist if we consider only single plays.
Perhaps this is the reason why the Oresteia is the only extant trilogy.
An awe-inspiring tale of destiny; out of it Æschylus will develop his great tragedy, the Oresteia.
