Magritte

Large in size, the painting depicts a man dressed in a sharp suit and bowler cap, a style typical of Magritte himself.

What struck me most about the show is how brilliantly bad Magritte was as a painter.

In fact, though, Magritte is channeling the techniques of a mediocre hobbyist or sign painter, and translating them into fine art.

Take, for example, the Magritte nail I got from Raquel, which was a complete replica of the artist's oil painting The Son of Man.
