An acute viral hemorrhagic fever characterized by headache, high fever, sweating, thirst, photophobia, coryza, cough, myalgia, arthralgia, and abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting. This phase lasts from three to six days and is followed by capillary hemorrhages, edema, oliguria, and shock.
