A method for preventing ophthalmia neonatorum by administering one drop of a 2 percent solution of silver nitrate into each eye of a newborn infant.
A method for expelling the afterbirth by resting the hand on the fundus of the uterus after expulsion of the fetus, gently rubbing the fundus with the hand in case of hemorrhage or failing contractions, then, when the afterbirth is loosened, expelling it by firmly squeezing the fundus with the hand.
A method for expressing urine by pressing the hand on the bladder, especially a paralyzed bladder.
