The subject of this sketch was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, of respectable and pious parents.
These are Delaware, Coshocton, and Pickaway, and the latter is one of the bordering counties.
Above Coshocton on the Walhonding River many villages were flooded and the loss to farmers was great.
Coshocton occupies the site of a former Indian village of the same name—the chief village of the Turtle tribe of the Delawares.
Doddridge locates Wapatomica “about sixteen miles below the present Coshocton.”
