All the houses are surrounded by fruit trees—orange, lemon, lime, ahuacate and chirimoya.
The Chirimoya, belonging to the same family, is undoubtedly the queen of the Anones.
Of the same family as the chirimoya is the guanabana (Anona muricata), or sour sop, an unattractive name for so delicious a fruit.
The chirimoya is not so generally cultivated in the colonies as the preceding species, although the fruit is excellent.
“He who has not tasted the chirimoya fruit, has yet to learn what fruit is,” says Markham.
