The date of the rescript is the third consulship of Antoninus Pius.
He was nephew and son-in-law to his predecessor on the throne, Antoninus Pius.
Antoninus and his son Commodus entered Rome in triumph, perhaps for some German victories, on the 23d.
Antoninus has recorded in his first book the names of his teachers, and the obligations which he owed to each of them.
Parthia under his reign, and Rome under that of Antoninus Pius, remained on good terms.
